Baptisms and Thanksgiving

Baptism

At St Mary’s we love to rejoice in the gift of new life and to help families celebrate the arrival of their children. To do this we offer families a ‘Thanksgiving Service’ where parents can name their children and thank God for their life.

If you are interested in this, do come along to a church service, preferably an All Age Service which is on the first Sunday of each month at 10.30am and introduce yourselves to us.  We can then begin to guide you in this process.

If later the family wish for a child to be baptised, then they should be regular in worship in the church and attend a Baptism Preparation course. This is normally six sessions at a time to suit participants. We explore the meaning and hope of the Christian faith, why baptism is so significant to Christians and the contents of the Baptism Service.
